Many people compromise in the design of their bedrooms, when less time and money is invested in its idea and implementation than, for example, the living room. In my opinion, it is necessary to pay much more attention to the bedroom and make it the most comfortable and harmonious room in the house, because it is where we recuperate after a long day. How do you create the perfect bedroom? There are four principles that I follow.
The author of the article: Lily Sumer, founder of the studio.
1. Symmetry. As an architect, I am very fond of symmetry, and in the bedroom it is very important. You can have almost any object in the room as a compositional center, but traditionally in the bedroom it is the bed. Symmetry is based on putting paired objects at the same distance from the axis.
2. Brevity. There is a tendency to put much more furniture in the bedroom than is necessary. Go back to basics and decide what you really need. Do you really need a table and chair that clutters one side or corner of the room? An overcrowded bedroom is not only stressful when you go to bed in the evening, but it also makes it difficult to move around. The bed, bedside tables and closet are the foundation of any bedroom.
3. Quality textiles. Comfort in the bedroom always comes down to the quality of the bedding used, the number of pillows and the tactile feel in general.
4. Accessories. Perhaps this is my favorite part of the project. Adding all the important decorative elements that give any room chic and completeness. Creating the perfect lighting in the bedroom is important. Choose beautiful bedside lights with bulbs under 30 watts.
Your ceiling light fixture, meanwhile, can be minimalist because you don't want to distract from the main focus of the bedroom. Cozy decorative accessories such as headboards, pillows and bedspreads complete the bedroom. Choose neutral complementary colors that work well together. Lavender and jasmine are soothing scents that should be in every bedroom.
